Maria Laïná (1947-)

Maria Laïná was born in Patras. She studied Law at the University of Athens. She has published six collections of poetry to date: Coming of Age (1968); Beyond (1970); Change of Scene (1972), Punctuation Marks (1979); Hers (1985) and Rose-coloured Fear (1992) for which she received the 1994 State Prize for Poetry and the City of Munich Literary Prize for 1995. Her theatrical pieces are The Clown (1985), Reality is Always Here (1990) and A Stolen Kiss (1996). More recently, she has published a prose work entitled The Meal (1998). Her translations include the short stories of Katherine Mansfield and critical writings by Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot.
