About The Paper

The Paper ran for eight issues from January 2001 to June 2004. A ninth issue was published in September 2007. It was edited by David Kennedy with co-editors (Nate Dorward, Keith Tuma, and Christine Kennedy) for particular issues. The magazine’s editorial policy was stated succinctly in Issue 1:

“The Paper appears twice a year and features new poetry with an emphasis on the work of writers who are interested in innovation and experiment. It is intended that each issue will have a specific theme. The Paper will not publish reviews but will publish prose relating to the theme of a particular issue. At the present time I do not accept unsolicited MSS.”

The Paper was privately funded by David Kennedy with the assistance of subscriptions, sales and donations. It was suspended indefinitely after Issue 9.

The nine issues were as follows:

Issue 1 (January 2001): A Miscellany of New Prospects on the Pastoral and the Garden
Issue 2 (September 2001): An Album Of Songs, Lyrics & Diverse Musics
Issue 3/4 (April 2002): Additional Apparitions: Poetry, Performance & Site Specificity
Issue 5 (October 2002): Elegies, Epithalamia, Etc – Occasions Of Poetry
