The Achiever
‘Pearly grey cloud’, said my old mum
and went out in the rain with her old bent back
and her old worn bag to shop at the street market,
where she wasn’t one for queuing. My old mum
introduced me to a stall-holder, ‘I’m so proud of you dear’,
her voice throbbing with love. The annual visit
I was consistently bad to my old mum:
My arm angered to hit her for not queuing,
I angered at her that she was too frail to be hit.
