Back in 1997, when this film came out, I found it a real tear jerker, but a real love story classic.
It’s about this young poor guy who fell in love with this rich girl who was engaged to this rich guy who frankly is up himself; an out and out Muppet!
He’s arrogant. He thinks he’s better than everyone else but the true fact is, he is not. END OF!!
In one scene not only did the poor guy save the rich girl from topping herself, but he listened to what she had to say which made a big difference. Because this rich geezer never listened to her, never allowed her to have a voice. But the poor guy did, he let her have her point of view, unlike the rich guy.
The poor guy was invited to dinner by the rich guy thanks to the rich girl who is engaged to the rich dude.
So when on the ship the poor guy dressed up for the occasion, the rich guy who is a Muppet went to the poor guy “you can almost pass for a gentleman”.
I looked at him as if to say he’s more of a gentleman than you pal.
