Job Interviews - What You Shouldn't Say!!!
On Monday 14th May I went to my work program place in Streatham to meet with my case worker to do a review about my job search. It went fine; she was satisfied. But it's not me that I want to talk about.
This woman who like me, goes to the same place, also had a review with her case worker. She told me she had a job interview last Thursday, in Clapham Junction at a shop called Boots. She told me it was going well but when she told him she likes watching the Jeremy Kyle show he cut the interview short. He was cold to her and she couldn't understand why. She also told her case worker; her case worker was very cold to her too. The feed back from me was “Daphne, that's due to the fact that you told them you like watching the Jeremy Kyle show.”She replied “Luke, when you showed me your CV, you put you like watching football.”
I replied back to her “Daphne there is a big difference between watching football and a geezer having guests on his show shouting at each other and the host himself shouting at them on top of it. I wouldn't mention football in my interview because it's a formal meeting, not a social meeting.”
I could tell she did not like what I said but I was right and she knows it, besides, she told me and asked for feed back from me.
She is in her mid thirties, you have to be formal, and I think she knows I am right.
So I hope she takes on board what I said, I mean telling the job interviewer she likes the Jeremy Kyle show. Do me a favour, she's having a laugh!
