Leaves
The heart is flooded by
Yellow stone
And walls to lean against.
(they don’t crumble)
the heart is flooded by
a small creature
crawling across the ceiling
without destination
without
strength
(it is frailty which we lack).
The way blue becomes ocean
And it is all suddenly
Interchangeable.
One thing slides into another
And I sit in stupor
Not knowing
Which page to turn first.
The first leaf.
The first leaf of the first tree.
The fruit of knowledge
Ordained
Compressed beneath nails.
Element. They say I w±ll be
In my element
What element is this?
I’m nothing but salt and blood
And bone upholding flesh.
Over a sandwich I complained
And called myself a misanthrope.
Turning a new leaf. New page. New book.
Cheap metaphors for life and various new starts
And new born and new being and oh the seasilt
Salts ick.
It is the fact that I have a destination
Rather than being aimless
Which is most terrifying.
Not all who wander
Are lost.
