The Biographer
malachite & tenderly scathed
a nipple pushes through
my cotton covering
at five am.
crisp fresh air
licks at my skin
and a shiver descends.
the chill of dawn
raises my body’s awareness.
my mind sets foot inside your
flesh. my fingers are too tired to touch.
my thoughts arouse your thoughts
and breathlessly they climb
through the snow together.
my flesh is your obsessed biographer,
charting you.
scars are deep valleys.
i cannot bear to look at them and think of you
hurt. a broken animal by the roadside.
we continue climbing, my mind wanders
with your mind until my skin is moist
and open.
my wounds let you in.
a flush of blood embraces you.
dawn penetrates the sky.
