the whole town
is a sticky row
of boot shop windows
and this stuck hand
on a murderer’s door
there’s epoxy resin
on all the bar room stools
- you are fastened
to a clotted bed
waiting to be released
from wanting more
why twist to the side?
why swerve?
a swerve is no time at all
the air is sellotaped
to the rich man’s garden
behind the rich man’s
untouchable gates
my shoes are held down
with chewing gum
half of me is clinging
to your garbage bags
half of me is bound
to a congealing sword
I’m stranded on a melted road
between immovable ex lovers
with glue pot eyes
and I have no desire
why free-fall?
why evade?
what clings
and says no?
what would I change it for?
who do I want to hold
and never let go?
