reminiscences.
snap! like a dry pod:
today’s pill shucked from its crisp
celluloid packet.
slippery and cool
by the gas fire in winter
years ago: that cream.
mindless animals
when things get too crowded for
comfort, stop mating.
distant soul-mates, we
consummate love’s despair through
the postal service.
and Yeats’s tubes, tied
to promote longevity
brought him a new spring.
