Jennifer Johnson
Writing Paper
She allows herself
to become the paper;
her value given by
the man who writes on her.
She gives him
the white background
to make the most
of his dark marks.
She has always given him
the necessary spaces
to make sense
of his words
but now she tears
when he writes.
Screwing up the paper,
he chucks it in the bin.
