From the extra skull of the sky
and the private motions
of dawn and tide
stepping back
through the shattered cities of loss and hurt
I turned with the breeze
to the burst of your beauty,
your hallelujah face.
You stood there, blond as Iceland,
as wild as the Pacific.
My hands dropped.
You stood there, like an army,
serene.
All the broken cavalcade
roared through my body-tips
to the shrine of your eyes and lips
that had the texture of reality.
