Mustard
Whenever you fly over
we ask you to bring mustard,
Dijon - only 90p - incredible.
We eat it with sausage casserole,
once a week in the winter,
and you know it makes
a perfect vinaigrette, quite fiery.
You frown as I shake in
the Aromat.
Once, after presenting us the jar,
you blurted: It was the last thing
I thought would happen.
I wasn’t looking for it
and definitely neither was she.
At the end
a knife stabs up the jar’s walls
as though searching for daylight.
We never get all of it out.
We wash the jar afterwards
but rarely recycle it.
It goes out with the other rubbish.
