Sea View
“I live here now,” he said’
as we stood, soaked to the skin,
in front of the six-eyed house,
its make-up peeling
from its brick complexion.
“I live here now – there’s the sea;
clouded with rain today, you see.
Out there it is, though, all the same.”
I was going home down the lane,
a bottle of Buckley’s pale ale
in my jacket pocket,
waiting impatiently to be poured.
And then there was the rain,
of course, pouring down!
“I live here now,” he said
as I waved goodbye,
turning my head over my shoulder,
to say goodbye.
“I live here now,” he repeated,
again and again, as I left
and went on, down the lane.
