from foxhouses
flattened
trees flat across
the beck, sheep
under them on
small
forages
the water descends
the dry cold of a
late winter, from
white cloud that
opens like spring, down
pale scree, rock
slimy with lichen, sun
breaks onto browned
cold grassland, water
descends to the
edge of the forest
the world is too extracted with mind
i have been too weary to stake my claim
so to visit you here
here on the edge of the welsh uplands
where the cloud is draped down
hanging with drizzle, to the
vortice shore, where music comes
in great electric meat-sounds
craze the sheep, so whatever we
read or say, whatever else
burns itself out in a
frenzy of london, it is a
rest for minds, it is
renewal
peach moon
stares in
midnight still as summer
i walk thru
mists ebbed cold
against my face
stony highway
whitens
for ulli & celia mccarthy
