I was born in 1973 and lived in Cranleigh, Surrey, until I moved to Italy in 1999. After two years of teaching in Verona and Rome, I returned to London where I gained a BA in English at Queen Mary and Westfield College. In 1996 I moved to Brighton where I completed an MA in twentieth-century poetry at the University of Sussex, and met Carole Satyamurti, then writer in residence, who
accepted my first poem for publication.

Since then, my poems have been published in a wide range of magazines, including The New Writer, Orbis, Other Poetry, Oxford Poetry, The Reader, The Rialto, Smiths Knoll, Soundings, and Thumbscrew. In 1999 I received an Eric Gregory Award. A pamphlet, Scattering Ashes, was published in 2003 by Waterloo Press, who also hope to publish my first full-length collection. For the last four years I have worked part-time for Brighton Age Concern, co-ordinating a Reminiscence project and, more recently, a Rehabilitation service.
