Knee High Affairs by Michelle Green
Crocus | ISBN 0 9467458 2 X | A5 | 32pp | £5.00 | Reviewer: Paul Neads
Winner of the 2005 NW Regional Slam Championship, Michelle Green is undoubtedly one of the most inspirational talents working the circuit. For those of you who have had the misfortune not to see her live, this collection proves it - and transferring performance to the page is not an easy task. In fact, go and see her perform, otherwise your life will be as pointless as a chicken in slippers. Blurb-described as “social soul poetry”, the poems in Knee High Affairs manage to be poignant, enlightening, witty and wistful, often in the same sentence, and make your brain smile. Overall, there’s very little a review can do justice to - simply seek out a copy and buy it. And pay attention to Michelle’s introduction, because it is “designed to be read. Out. Loud”.
