in the ease of the mown and glossed the peace of the ramshackle
                                                                                      and  worn
I see reality isn't the only truth I see that truth can be destroyed
cracks in the fabric are clear to see and space tears itself apart
squeezing through cratered unloved spaces empty beyond my
                                                                                    wildest fears
it would fall apart but moment desperately bonds with moment after
                                                                      every chance collision
each seductive in its minute brightness and since we strive to give it
                                                                             meaning beautiful
I watch as skies heavy with loveliness gnaw trusted hard-edged 
                                masonry into jagged uncertainty and towers fall
houses and offices shops and places in which to hide for worship
                                                                  now solid only as dough
smoothed by a painter's thumb they merge with broken spring-
                                                                                   bright foliage
gentle leaves suffocate those who sleep and drop their guard
I dare not move hearing the universe breathe and shift restlessly
                                                                                     around me
I see moment by still-born moment the folding out of time
