lines of washing, all the colours of Benneton.
Cosmo-City, heritage and concrete commerce,
mix & match, faded facades, peeling terracotta,
Italian renaissance pink, amalgams of architecture.
Steamy, hazy sun, filters through the ‘fog-glazed’ plume,
teaming humanity, garlic and spices waft on the breeze,
a city surrounded by a necklace of hills, all individual gems.
Ships of the world converge, enormous, sleek, white sharks,
fill this harbour of intrigue, dragnet to Capri and Pompeii,
castle walls & battlements defend glittering diamond domes.
Ancient wonders, a jig-saw century, back to back history,
colonnaded palaces, marble statuettes, Romanesque fountains:
From these vantage points Vesuvius has twin peaks.
