A Phlegm-Pale Gecko With Obsidian Eyes
A phlegm-pale gecko with obsidian eyes
just fell from the ceiling onto the kitchen table
landing paws down like
a three-inch chlorophyll
cat with a dinosaur tail.
It was going for and missed
an orange and rust colored moth
- who also has large obsidian eyes on its wings -
flirting with the ceiling light
The gecko now must find its way
from the table to the floor, across the floor,
up the wall, and across the ceiling to lurk again,
admiring from a shadow’s proximate obscurity
the beauty of more graceful flight
