Homeless Diamonds
Home carried on spine,
Held up with cloud string,
Dragged on glowing feet on blistered heels,
Brushed through the concrete flowers and held up to the light.
Lifted by painted hands,
Among bric-a-brac limbs,
Beyond all numbers sitting in a statistic brain box
Carrying on regardless,
What is in the heart lives on,
No need for a pat on the back for the paintbrush is waiting.
Crying upwards on helium balloons,
Rising in night lamps throughout the light of day like flying lanterns
As a voice sings somewhere in the deep,
Asks for no applause as the wind is its companion,
Singing on for the bugs and magic dust in the air.
A living, breathing poem, a walking song,
A masterpiece standing in rainbow skin
by Hicham Bensassi, also known as Ben River, founder of New Antique Records
