young men recruited to the national military cadence.
It was wartime, and few, if any of them, attended
the poet’s priceless, informal chairside seminars.
You, no exception, preferring to adventure with
a compassionate lady of the college town:
as one in a million and more of the international
martial equation. in or out of Harm’s way
at the moment. instinctively restricting yourself
to that one of the gentler arts: kept your
finger on that depressing button with no way
to imagine or foresee if and or when the stallions
of Mars might be reined in. and seeds sown
in their hoofprints.
