Leaving the sunlight
I enter the wood
Slipping through the shadows
Into a past of
Dark imaginings and boyhood magic
Lurking in the undergrowth.
The cool air and damp earth
Cling to memory,
And in the hush
An echo of myself.
And still
The fuzzy-felt horizon
Closes in.
