Adapted from
1; On a sleepless bed I sought SHE whom my soul loves: I looked under the pillows and bedclothes
No note, no nothing.
2; I will rise now (as if on cue) and search an empty city’s empty streets, broad empty ways, I will seek SHE whom my soul loveth.
No sign of her, no shadow trace at all.
3; The policemen that go about the city found me writing your name in the dust with a stick, looked at me and shook their heads severely to whom I said saw you SHE whom my soul loveth?
4; I walked on awhile and I found SHE whom my soul loveth. I held her and would not let her go, I took her to my second hand hotel room with a picture of Elvis on the wall, the king.
5; I warn all you sons of sly Jerusalem, do not dare to stir or wake my love till she please.
6; I come to you out of this concrete wilderness through trails of cigarette smoke, perfumed with the scent of your intangible body.
7; Behold my bed guarded by Elvis himself. I will hire all the bouncers of the city to guard it, the valiant of Israel's nightspots.
8; They all hold switchblades being expert in violence.
9; I have bought us a Volkswagen convertible much sought after, rare even.
10; I have made the interior leather, put two dice in the mirror and placed on the windscreen a sticker of Me4You.
11; Go forth all you daughters of this cold and neon Zion, behold the lily of my Valleys, who is Queen.
