Stephen Horsfall
The Carpenter's Lad
Down in the workshop, the carpenter’s lad
Holds the wood straight as the carpenter saws,
Learning the trade as he watches his dad
Making and mending his tables and doors.
Up on the hill now, the carpenter’s lad
Hangs on the product of one of his trade,
Who doubtless learned by helping his dad
And watching the way in which crosses are made.
