Dad always used to say
I was a bit of a prima donna
But up here, I feel like Garbo
Maybe I drew the short straw
Stuck here with the clapped out reel-to-reel
And half a dozen flashing lights
Meanwhile, down below
Scott’s coming on with his Bond routine
Sliding to where the crippled cable car
Hangs by a thread
The palms are springing back for Virgil
Humping pods over the Pacific
The only time Gordon doesn’t tell pathetic jokes
Is when he’s in his yellow submarine
And I know Alan’s knocking off Kyrano’s daughter
Hardly gets up here these days
They’re all too busy, sipping and smoking by the pool
Sometimes I think I won’t tell them
When the second engine drops off the Fireflash
Or the 181 storey office block goes up in smoke
When the ice closes in on the research station
I’ll let them stew
Brains can work it out for himself
Then I’ll shut off the monitors
Unplug the microphone
