Where clouds are born
High in the cold, grey mountains
the stony path slopes.
Sometimes gently,
often steeply but always
leading to where clouds
of white, grey and black
are born and where
each man’s heaven lies.
Stop your fretful journey.
Sit and enjoy the evening
in the pine woods where
frosty needles seem bluer
than the eyes of a Norse goddess:
With mind more settled,
choose the colour of your cloud.
the stony path slopes.
Sometimes gently,

leading to where clouds
of white, grey and black
are born and where
each man’s heaven lies.
Stop your fretful journey.
