We gathered in the sunlit Forum,
starlings darting around the fallen stones.
Inside, the epic of salvation history
swept up to the radiance of the dome.
John Angus, risen for the occasion,
spoke of marriage as a 'sacred friendship'
and under the big lamps of the film crew
I was ashamed by my inattention,
forming vows as we spilled into the gloaming,
hand in hand on our solitary way.
