The Waiting Room of Heaven
where limber knees don't ache crossed
by boottops and air in the windpipe
has that fresh feel like by a sea
where strangers singing drunk out
windows don't offend nor strangers
seeking sleep in a neighbouring berth take
offense where selfconsciousness and hand-
writing back each other up and words
mean what they tell and sound that
feels like that good sea air clears
the ears for more song and more sense
there aint no strangers in the waiting
room of heaven only souls known to one
another as kith and kin with patience
and concern seeing what the interview
brings knowing what they want and how
they'll put it but not knowing what kind
of reception to expect and a little tired
withal a little weary after all after all
the waiting room of heaven is our final
destination how could it be me come to meet you?
