Pink Snow
Chill winds shake pink snow
from cherry trees,
raindrops hang-glide on
tissue paper petals,
slide down my windscreen to spread
a soft spring carpet on the road
scuffed up by homeward bound small boys.
Slowly pastel powder puffs give way
to crisp green curl of leaves,
May marches in. No time now
for candy floss blossom –
summer’s brash brightness
is encroaching,
and autumn won’t be far behind.
