A troublesome thought:
that my cat
has crept into the O of the washing machine
because the door is O
pen and it is snug in there
and O
so
cosy it is
to lie on clothes
there
ready to wash
and my cat
has curled and is orange-pearled
a bit like the T-shirt
so that
I don’t even notice him
when I fill the dosing ball with powdered Dreft
and (of course) fling it into the very back of the O
set the machine to 40 degrees slow spin
slam the door
and
off I go (perhaps) humming
