The Glass Graduate
Smashed
by speeding train
the painted plywood man-shape that I was
I crawl to her her loving eyes
make me whole again
but glass -
brittle, transparent,
and thin, oh so thin.
I shine
in sympathy with
her shining light
but, she not there - transparent fear -
a single tap two contrary quivers
and I would crack
to shivers
I sing
as the wetted finger
circles my rim
vibrate
wait
terrified -
Sing! Sing! Sing!
