Abegail Morley
Desperate Measures
She bends backwards
further than the chisel needs
hammers hard
and a line extends across his chest
cracking apart his heart.
Dust lines her sticky lungs.
She hacks him into chunks
litters the floor with his jumble of limbs
now and then she unearths a wink, a cheek,
a frightened lip.
Abegail Morley’s first collection is How to Pour Madness into a Teacup (Cinnamon, December 2009); she appears in The Sandhopper Lover (Cinnamon). She won the Cinnamon Press Poetry Collection Award 2008.
