Andrew Bailey has an MA in
Contemporary Poetry, lives in London, and
works for the Poetry Society. His poetry has
appeared in a number of magazines, and
he sets the crossword for Poetry Review.
Chris Beckett grew up in Ethiopia in the
1960s before going to boarding school in
Yorkshire and Surrey. He has worked in
Australia and Japan and now lives and
works in London. He has been widely
published and his first collection The Dog
Who Thinks He's A Fish (Smith/Doorstop)
is due out in September 2004.
Charles Bennett lives and works in
Ledbury where he is the Director of the
Ledbury Poetry Festival. He has been
awarded a grant to write twelve poems for
a poetry trail in a local orchard. As well as
having poems published in the TLS, he read
at the Poetry Next The Sea Festival in
Norfolk. His recent first collection is
Wintergreen, published by Headland.
Idris Caffrey was born in Rhayader,
Mid-Wales and now lives in Tamworth,
Staffordshire. His latest collection Departures
and Returns is published by Peer Poetry.
June English was born in Kent in 1936. As
a mature student, she read English and
History at the University of Kent, followed
by an MA in Humanities. Her first collection
of poetry, Counting the Spots, was
published by Acumen in 2000. She has also
been published in Connections, Envoi,
Mslexia and Orbis. She founded the Dover
and Deal Split the Lark Poetry Festival in
1999. She also provides Poetry Workshops
for children with special needs.
David M Garnett was a member of the
Bradford Writers Workshop. He has an MA
in Medieval Studies. His poetry has been
published in Hard Lines magazine and his
work recorded for broadcast on Pennine
Radio. He won a BBC Radio Leeds poetry
competition which was recorded for
broadcast. He’s recently been given a
feature in Forward Press’ Spotlight Poets
project presentation.
John G Hall is a poet from Manchester,
England. Some recent publications include
Fire, The Wolf, Left Curve and The Ugly
Tree. He is a featured poet in Bewrite
Books’ anthology Routes and his own
collection is due out soon. He is also editor
of Citizen32 due out in October 2004.
Chris Hardy has been published in many
magazines, including Stand, Agenda and
Tears in the Fence and has a collection
Swimming in the Deep Diamond Mine
published by Hub. His poem ‘The Wedding’
was commended in The National Poetry
Competition in 2003. He lives and works
in London.
Valerie Josephs lives in London, where she
was born, but has also lived in Paris,
Chicago and Glasgow. Trained in fine art
she has a Masters degree in Art and
Architecture from the University of Kent.
Her poems have been published in
Magma, Poetry News and The Virago
Book of Christmas 2002. Sonnets made
during a recent artist’s residency have just
been exhibited in London.
Clare Kirwan was born and lives in Wirral,
Merseyside. After saving herself up for
years in a bank, she travelled widely
including long spells as a volunteer on a
kibbutz. Subsequent re-inventions have
included: journalist, postie, eco-worrier,
training programme organiser, grants
assessor and local authority lackey.
Michael Levy was born in Manchester,
England on the 6th March 1945 and is the
author of four books, What is the Point?,
Minds of Blue Souls of Gold, Enjoy Yourself
– It’s Later Than You Think and Invest with
a Genius. His poetry and essays now grace
many web sites, journals and magazines
throughout the world. His philosophies
have become a major source of Truth,
Wisdom and Love for many people.
Peter Phillips has published a pamphlet,
Frayed At the Edges in 1997 and a first full
collection, Looking for You in 2001, both
from Hearing Eye Press. He lives in London.
Riff Poynton is a vegetarian hunter
gatherer from North London; has a great
love for poetry and poetical people; suffers
from a predisposition to be late for
everything, especially if he wants to be early.
Barbara Rumsey, when she first
contracted cancer, put the paintbrush
down and picked up the pen. During the
treatment she found writing more
therapeutic. That was six years ago and she
is now in remission and still prefers poems.
Leigh Sharpington is 33, married, from
and lives in south London. He has been
writing poetry for four years now and had
poems published in nine magazines.
Ian C Smith lives in East Gippsland,
Australia with his wife and four sons. His
two collections of poetry, These Fugitive
Days, and This is Serious, were both
published by Ginninderra Press, in 2003.
Philip Wilson was born in Leeds, lives in
Colchester and teaches German and French
in a comprehensive school. His interests
include theology, the poetry of Goethe and
Goth Metal. Over seventy poems have
appeared in magazines.
Robin Wilson was born and raised in
South Australia. He attended the Royal
Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in
Glasgow. He now teaches acting, directing
and writing at various colleges and
universities in Edinburgh and Glasgow. His
poetry has appeared in many magazines
and publications. Robin is currently
working as the Creative Writer at the
National Hospital, Carstairs.
