Spring
Before this golden dust of the sunlight, on the horizon of the plain, before this silver dust of the willows around the marshes, this buzzing of various insects, interspersed by the chirping of crickets terrified by an aeroplane; before this dust of sporadic flowers, the crow folds its voluptuous wings of velvet and silk, collects its thoughts, bows deeply and seeking in its breast brings out the cry of the pelican, which was that of the dying Christ.
And I, rolling my head and weeping, weeping tears of joy into my gnome’s elbow, my sick old man’s elbow, I cry out: “My God, I’m a pantheist and you are unutterable.”
