your notes soothe devils from work-sore bones
On the day you promise to phone home
no satellite can sky-cast your song
On the night to experience sensual heaven
mirrors avoid looking you in the eye
On a day that’s a cert. for a stroke of luck
you refuse to see the wood for the trees
On the night guaranteed to impress new friends
you slice a finger on the stake in your pocket
On the best day to build on successes
your eyes are full of distant stars
On the best night to chill out - alone - you suspect
ulterior motives in the crack of the wineglass
On the day for exchanging promises, a Pepsi
sponsored cyclone steals the wind from your sails
On the best night to celebrate in style, you quarter
your heart over a rational argument
On the day when it all turns pear-shaped
you unfurl translucent wings & ride
the updrafts out of town.
