blood will out
Back
to the island. Out there via ferry
to the skerry of my tundra,
river of my fire, tumble of my suicide.
Whistle to the trees,
it is wonderful. There are ghosts in lakes, and
wings on words. I live barefoot in a cottage.
Catch my breath in both my hands, it is a living thing:
a moth, a breath, a bird. A book to read, a book to write.
Eternity, milliseconds, walking in the rain.
I go back to the island, going away, going away,
winking out, lights in branches in the distant forest,
afraid that blood will out, blood will out, my touch is burnt.
Leave me alone.
Rejection hurts
an emotion. Being I can word of mine
one
word of my making mountains of me, rivers of my urination even.
Living foggy, strange, unclear
it lives here like a cloud, inauspicious and benign
to me, solitude in
silk ink done with sex,
shouldering the
cottage door down wet and stammering a love, a
thought, a verse out to the grey lichen in the dank desert,
barking for a living and no living.
