Háris Vlavianós was born in Rome. He studied Economics and Philosophy at the University of Bristol and Politics at the University of Oxford. He now lives and works in Athens where he is editor of the influential journal Poetry. He has published the following poetry collections: Sleepwalkings (1983); Miracle Vender (1985); So to Speak (1986); Implacable Refutation (1989); Nostalgia for the Heavens (1991); Adieu (1996) and The Angel of History (1998). He has also published a collection of prose writings, The Other Land (1994), and has translated poetry by Walt Whitman, Ezra Pound, Wallace Stevens, John Ashbery and William Blake and a theatrical work by Carlo Goldoni. His own work has been translated into a number of European languages.
