Who She Wants To Be
she looks like a million dollars did
when a million dollars looked like something,
stepping out of the car that someone else washed
and parked exactly where she wants and precisely where she
shouldn’t,
and into the shop that’s not a shop but a boutique,
(where they don’t have salesgirls now,
only executive consultants),
her relentless eyes homing in like a spy satellite
lock and full zoom on a pair of sunglasses
which she doesn’t so much put on as introduce
to her face –
and then she says to the mirror which loves her –
“this is the person that I want to be”.
