Frank is thin
and Bing
is singing and Louis
is
mopping
the stairs to her bed
are dry and dark,
the bannister smashed.
She understands
the importance of
keeping clean.
Her wardrobe is full
of bubbles and suds.
Frustrated Poles
pace the square
lighting up pipes,
scratching wounds.
Their uniforms bulge,
the Allies
advance
and Bing
is singing
and Louis is mopping
his sweating head,
plantation skin.
He understands
the importance of
intercourse.
His cheeks fill with
dancehall air,
his trumpet is stuffed
with chocolate
and bread.
