Dreams
Dreams
always dreams
I like to follow the footsteps of my dreams
I want to frame my present from my dreams
to plant my words
in the soil of my dreams
to wear a necklace of dream-stars
to assign myself to the moon
to release my body in spaceThe past with its clawed fists
the present with its idiotic grimness
the future with its doubts and secrets
where do they take me?
what times of rust : our existence!Dreams
only dreams
lifetime, taste, stone
everything has its own protected space
everything has its own colour and dullness
everything but dreams
indefinite, mysterious, eternal
do you not hear its footsteps?
do you not hear the murmur of its breath?
It walks beside you,
lies next to you,
always conceives within you
with seeds of unforeseen joy
I like to follow the footsteps of my dreamsDreams
always dreams
in dreams I map out a space
where I grow love flowers
in dreams
only in dreams
I see the truthDreams
I like to follow the footsteps of my dreams
in dreams I eat an apple from the garden of Eden
I turn into an angel
I reconcile God and the snake
in my dreams
I cleanse Eve’s sins
and return Adam to paradise
Dreams
always dreams
in my dreams I become a mirage
hold the hand of the rain
and release it over the desert
in dreams
I become morning dew glinting on the eyelashes of sandDreams
only dreams
in dreams I leave the body
and approach the soul
in dreams
I become a cataract of light
traverse all the remote distances
and engrave a message of poetry on the rocks of JudeaDreams
I like to follow the footsteps of my dreams
in dreams I embrace the moon
kiss the wind’s lips
I change into words
and steal myself into poetry
Look I am still wearing my necklace
the necklace of wordsDreams
always dreams
in dreams I steal back from words to myself[Paris, 1992]
