Unvisited
Well - and I thought I’d be back one day ....
and I’d see it again ....
and I’d finish those notes ....
and write that poem ....
about the place you lived ....
there at the sea’s edge ....
Something about the light it was ....
and the way the sea-birds rose and fell
perpetually
in the sequinned sky.
But now you’ve moved
and change has placed
these fragments in that
changeless place
for all things left
unvisited.
The untold loves ....
the unborn child ....
the lives unlived ....
