The Evening Primrose
tall, unassuming, wears thin dark leaves.
It is midday.
Yesterday’s blooms,
spent after the deep experiences of night,
hang withering, worn.
As the sun moves towards setting
new buds in their green casings show yellow slips.
No need for time-lapse photography.
As you watch the evening adventure begins.
The innocents emerge.
