I'll Tell You When
We had one, many years ago
and goodness, how we loved him so!
Shortly, when we reach retirement,
what will be our first requirement?
A little dog to brighten days,
a placid one, who gently plays
and sleeps in peace, who's civilised,
but maybe we've been ill-advised!
Now chaos reigns in our house,
the constant cause of raised eyebrows,
a crazy creature, built for fun --
a wild and witless Bedlington!
Who travels at the speed of sound?
Our very, very pretty hound!
She's Bible-black, extremely sweet,
but always walks between one's feet!
The floors are cluttered with her toys,
but thankfully, she makes no noise;
her mouth is armed with needle nippers,
making mincemeat of our slippers!
I must report, with great regret,
professionally, she's met the vet!
The dog-proof toy that's now within her,
went straight down with last night's dinner!
To help us see that toy 'agin' - - -
the vet prescribed some paraffin!
We're hoping, for our little lass,
both time and toy, will quickly pass!
