You tremble in your sleep
specters of cold
mask the snow
winter’s sun lovers
shiver outside.
Wanting to put on Bach
and accommodating fire
in solitude of dozing
under the green lamp
music echoes
cornering memories.
Folding eternity
under your sheets
blankets of snow
call on shadows of branches
flakes overflow driveways
and pavement signs.
Wishing to disavow
rumors of your past
you move
your diary sideways
near the bed carpet
the curtains reveal streets
peopled with floating island sleds.
