The wandering geography
of Egypt, India
on your reddening skin.
Our fields are paisley and Scotch plaid
but you want to wrap up
in the jellabah
of heat and white sand.
Can’t I tempt you
with the sweet of Spanish chestnut
in the woods? Or hedgerows
in lucent leaf?
No medicine or witch hazel
will ever cure the miliaria.
And no waters kept in a bottle
can keep you.
