Written on Beginning Georg Buchner's 'Lenz' & While Waiting a Return
Lost on the outer rim of some
barely perceptible whirling, I float
slowly in toward the other. It is
no longer necessary to look for
lost dreams, the dream is found &
has a tangible & purposeful
content. A hillside breeze
ruffles the hair about
the temples in it. We know it
is a dream we have called into
being of necessity; &, with the joy there is
in returning to a friend or
place we have long craved
to be with or at, we look in
at each other, as though from a
long way off. But the void is
cancelled by our own assertion:
the codings of our senses fuse
into created fullness the apparent
immovability of the clouds as they
caress the turbulence of these hillocks &
valleys, ours, as far as the eye can reach.
