Biker Chicks in Zombie Town
Well into the midnight-mass of evening
Dave squatted over the typewriter,
Thirteen chapters completed of
Biker Chicks in Zombie Town.
And Dave knew, beyond a shadow of doubt,
As he popped another energy pill
To keep the dark edges of the room at bay,
That these fleeting hours
Would change his life for ever.
When Biker Chicks hit the shelves, he mused,
Stephen King just better watch out!
‘Cos Dave Hickinbottom
Was not a man to be trifled with.
Dave allowed himself a brief moment
To lean out of the windowsill of his universe
And to take a deep lung-full
Of the stench of raw sex
That was coming his way.
A pencil-thin smile ruled across his face
As he practised the signature
For the queue of honeysuckle-mouthed
starstruck
Pawing at his sleeve like a restless horse.
Gatecrashing his desires, he forced himself
To concentrate on the matter in hand;
The teeth of the typewriter chattered on -
Fame only comes at a price.
