John Halladay is in his mid-forties. His poetry has appeared in many
magazines and he has won a number of prizes, including The New Writer prize for a verse collection, the Tom Roder Memorial Prize, and he was a runner-up in the Biscuit Orange competition last year. A booklet of his poetry, Letters from Ravensbruck, was published in 2003 by the University of Sheffield press. He was a prolific writer in his teens but gave up out of laziness. He returned to it several years ago. That is a gap he regrets but he takes comfort from the fact that he can still call his work juvenilia. If it still looks a bit rough, he prefers that to a false sheen from over-polishing. He admires Carol Ann Duffy and Robert Browning and the Earl of Rochester. He is secretary of Rushmoor Writers, a literary circle based in Hampshire. He also writes short stories and is currently working on a novel. John works as an interim manager. He lives in the South East of England and has a partner and two children.
