A Night of Music
A Chinese poet awakens
After falling asleep in a worn, wicker chair.
His flapping, long white-silk sleeves,
Wine-stained.
In the stains he sees cherry trees,
Coral caves, pomegranates, opened lips.
Duane Locke is a poet, painter and photographer. A humanities professor, he was poet in residence at the University of Tampa for over 20 years and has been widely published. His latest collection is Watching Wisteria.
