Your back to the landcapes, consciously unaware

Wandering other worlds beyond the brimming bay

Egyptian cat goddess, serene in the fall of light
Found you
Poised in black, legs crossed, hands white
Found you
Chromatic against the painter’s duns and greys
Found you
Untroubled by the tumult of his ways
Found you
In love with sky, windy and sapphire bright
Found you
Across spindrift and surf, tracing the seabirds’ flight
I found you
Witness to that loveliness survives
Among saints and painters at St Ives.
